Unexplained dizziness, vertigo, or difficulty maintaining balance may indicate reduced blood supply to the brain.
Other signs to watch for:
- Difficulty walking in a straight line
- Feeling lightheaded when standing or moving suddenly
Ignoring these symptoms could increase the risk of falling or a more severe stroke event.
6. Sudden Fatigue or Weakness
Extreme fatigue or sudden loss of energy, especially when it appears without reason, can be an early warning of a stroke. This often coincides with other symptoms like numbness or headaches.
7. Facial Drooping
One side of the face may droop or appear uneven. Ask the person to smile: a crooked smile is a classic sign.
Importance: Early detection can save critical minutes and reduce stroke severity.
8. Difficulty Swallowing or Chewing
Problems with swallowing (dysphagia) may occur before a stroke. Food or liquids may feel like they get stuck, which can also increase the risk of aspiration.
